If you want change, you have to invite chaos. Being a House Committee member, it is expected of you to support others. As a house committee member, I would like to help newcomers adapt to the change in their lives next year. My focus would be to support newcomers and fellow Pieke members emotionally. Helping people through difficult situations helps me to grow as person and to form new friendships.
I am interested in the Financial Manager Portfolio and the Social Media Portfolio. I am currently studying accounting and it would really benefit me to gain some experience during my university years. I think it is a challenging responsibility and I will gain a better insight on finances. Managing the finances of a PSO can be stressful and it will help me to perform better under pressure. As someone who always plans, I am sure that I can assist Pieke in allocating their funds. Setting up a budget and ensuring that everyone sticks to the budget will definitely be a priority of mine.
I am also interested in the Social Media portfolio because it will provide me with a platform to connect with others. I would like to use the platform to create a safe space for Pieke members to reach out to us as house committee members. Pieke could also benefit from creating a space for mental health on social media. It is important to inform people that men can also be vulnerable and emotional. Therefore, my expectation for next year is that the house committee talks about it and shows it to newcomers and current members. Mental health will always be present in a community and if members have access to a confidential social media page, we can help them. As a house committee member, I would like to inform people about the different kinds of challenges in terms of mental health and I would like to teach them how to approach such a challenge. Social media will also give us the opportunity to inform members about equality.
Next year I would like the house committee to focus even more on equality and making sure everyone in Pieke promotes equality. I think one of the biggest problems of previous leadership structures is communication. As leaders you constantly have to communicate and give everyone the opportunity to speak their mind, even if no one agrees. This problem can easily be solved by spending some time together and getting to know each other. I want to be the type of leader who seems approachable on an emotional level. The type of leader who can help you with a problem and who is always available to talk to. My strengths are that I am someone who performs well under pressure and that I am someone who considers every possible outcome of a decision. Another strength is that I always observe and try to figure out what is happening in a group even when no one else is paying attention. My weakness is that I am an overthinker and it can really be time consuming. I am someone who can offer Pieke financial guidance and emotional support.
